This
activity consists of writing, research skills,
timeline building, and art.
Use a large poster board or tag board.
Across the top of the poster, construct a
timeline of Colonel Croghan’s life.
(You might like to assign several leaders
and have students choose one.)
Be sure to label major events. Under the
timeline and in the top left of the poster,
draw a picture George Croghan. To the right
of the picture, summarize his life and why
he is an important American. Under the summary
write an acrostic using his first or last
name. You may choose another form of poetry
as well. Next to this under the poem, draw
three objects that you think would be important
to George Croghan.
The poster can be presented as part of
an oral presentation to the class. Be sure
to tell why the objects you chose would be
important to Colonel Croghan. |
