of resources available in the Birchard Public Library system.
Borrowing Privileges
It takes only minutes to register for your own library card. You can apply in person at the main or any branch library where you will complete a short application. Simply provide proof of current address and a photo ID. A parent or legal guardian must apply for minors age 17 and under in person with the minor and must have a library card in good standing, and sign an acceptance of responsibility for the child's use of the card. The library card will be issued immediately and materials may be borrowed at the same time. If the patron loses his/her library card, we will verbally verify the information in the registration and issue a new card upon payment of $1.00. The patron must be able to state his/her address, telephone number, and/or birth date.
Loan Periods
3 DAY MATERIALS -- DVDs with orange dots on the spine may be checked out for three days.
7 DAY MATERIALS -- Magazines, DVDs, videocassettes, audio music, orange dot book
collection, newspapers.
21 DAY MATERIALS -- Adult & teen books, children's materials, CD-ROMs, audio books.
TEACHER / VACATION / CLUB LOAN -- An extended loan is available for special purposes. Ask for details at the circulation desk.
NON-CIRCULATING MATERIALS -- Reference, local history and genealogy materials, and current issues of newspapers and magazines do not circulate.
RENEWALS -- Most materials may be renewed two times. Videocassettes, DVDs, and browsing books may be renewed once. There are no renewals on items which have been reserved by another patron, or items borrowed as a teacher/vacation/club loan. Renewals may be done in person, online, or by telephone.

Extended Use Fees
Online fine payment is now available. At www.birchard.lib.oh.us click on My Account.
Extended use fees are waived for patrons aged 60 and older.
Fines and fees on items borrowed from other CLEVNET libraries will vary.
VIDEOCASSETTES, DVDs, and CD-ROMs-- Fee is $.25 per day per item to a limit of $5.00 per item.
OTHER MATERIALS-- Fee is $.05 per day per item to a limit of $2.00 per item.
EQUIPMENT-- Fee is $5.00 per day.
Lost Material Charges
The replacement cost of the item plus a processing fee is charged for lost materials.
Lost Library Card--$1.00 replacement fee
Suspension of Borrowing Privileges
No materials may be borrowed if a patron owes $10.00 in extended-use fees or if the patron has more than 10 overdue items.
